Michael schur book how to be perfect7/6/2023 ![]() If you studied philosophy/anthropology in college, enjoy reading or reading about moral philosophy, and enjoy books with lots of jokes, then this is definitely that thing. If you earned PhD in, I don’t know, epistemology and you’re looking for the newest piece of scholarship to further your specific content area, this is probably not that thing either. If you are looking for a dry, serious analysis of the history of philosophy, this is not that thing. ![]() Michael Schur, writer for The Office, co-creator of both Parks and Rec and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and creator of The Good Place, builds on the moral questions he explores in The Good Place but in a way that doesn’t not produce a migraine. ![]() I don’t usually review non-fiction books, least of all books on philosophy, yet when I started the ironically named, How to Be Perfect: The Correct Answer to Every Moral Question, I should’ve known that I would be jotting down my thoughts the second I finished it. ![]() The wartime sisters a novel7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() The problem (other than, you know, war)? One sister is living the "good" life as an officer's wife, while the other is a factory worker―causing understandable tension that strains their bond. ![]() This touching book tells the story of two sisters who are reunited during World War II. While the two help the war effort by working at an armory factory in Massachusetts, their past secrets bubble to the surface. Sisters Ruth and Millie find themselves back in each other's lives after a long estrangement when Millie and her son turn up on Ruth's doorstep needing a place to stay. Historical fiction fans will love Lynda Cohen Loigman's The Wartime Sisters―a fresh take on the World War II novel. Never ever the role of women during World War II was explained in such a brilliant way in a book of fiction. Lynda Loigman explores the roles women played during World War II and won freedom. The Wartime Sisters is an indictment of how we judge others by their looks. ![]() ![]() ![]() And it is.Ĭannily, Gaudí didn’t want it completed first. Then, in ascending order of height, there will be 12 towers representing the 12 apostles, 4 towers for the Evangelists, and one tower for the Virgin Mary. It will be 172.5 meters high when finished. The tallest tower, now 85 meters, represents Jesus. The completed basilica will eventually have 18 tapered towers. Made of Montjuïc sandstone and granite, the towers have an organic honeycomb-like form. The exterior draws some inspiration from Gothic styles, but with Gaudí’s signature expressive and naturalistic touch. ![]() Catriona ward books7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() Her next gothic thriller, The Last House on Needless Street, was published through Viper Books (an imprint of Serpent's Tail) in March 2021, and Tor Nightfire ( Tor Books) in the US, in September 2021. The film is ostensibly about Bruce Lee (Philip Ng)’s controversial and private fight with Wong Jack Man (Xia Yu), but it’s really about the love life of Bruce Lee’s (fictional) student, Steve McKee (Billy Magnussen). It’s more like “The Dragon and Friends” rather than showcasing a “birth” element. ![]() You’d expect a film with such a title and subject to showcase the origins of Bruce Lee, but what this martial arts film does is something completely different. ![]() ![]() The whole problem with “Birth of the Dragon” is that the dragon, Bruce Lee, is already an established martial artist in the film. ![]() |
